Winter '11 / '12 - Arctic Oscillation - Near Record High

     The daily AO index reached 5.647 today.  It/s the 2nd highest value behind the 5.911 observed on 02-FEB-1990.
     NWP models show the AO in rapid decline over the short term so the record may stand.
